Memorial Service for Bob Hart Saturday 8/30 at 1:30 p.m.

Our dear friend and poet, Bob Hart,  passed away last week.  He was 85 years old, but his lively spirit and dance moves could outdo those more than half his age.  Bob featured for me back on January 5, 2013 with Bruce Weber and Joanne Pagano Weber as part of The No Chance Ensemble team. It was a fun event for everyone.  Bob's poem, A Longer Shorter Comedy, is in the Brownstone Poets 2014 Anthology.  I plan to do a special memorial section for him in the 2015 anthology.

There will be a non-denominational funeral service for Bob Hart:

Saturday, August 30, at 1:30 p.m.

The Scientology Church

65 East 82 St., between Park and Madison

New York, NY 10028

If you have any questions, please call Eden at 212-288-1526.

I wish I could go, but I'm scheduled to work that day.

Every poem is a gift from the poet's heart.  Bob Hart had a heart filled with poetry.  I have posted his poem from the Brownstone Poets 2014 Anthology below.  Please read, enjoy, and share his gift.

A LONGER SHORTER COMEDY

midway this trip
beginning with one and
ending with another nothing;
bubbling in the wakings of
sensation’s edgy finding of
the light and morbid substance of infinitude
we who met (or not met at all) are amazed
in our urging or purging round this fountain cup
of bright and dim variety
how many (or few) exuding life’s vibrancy
we find in this contriving of eternity

midway my trip or midway our trip
so many steep concavities
of sloping in and climbing out—
the filling of the dark green living leaf
with freezing white (whose eye of ice
will weep a different beauty in the spring)

midway like sun and blossom   hope and help
close with opening we sanctify or vilify each other—
truth-spiders
weaving forever as substance sublime
or else a void to avoid.

—Bob Hart
